My second internship was off to a rough start. Having spent hours of my precious life trawling round news vendors trying to find a copy of the magazine yesterday, it was only when I crawled into the library a kind librarian kindly informed me that the magazine was in fact a supplement of a newspaper. Ah. This coupled with my unruly mane (okay, choice strands) of hair meant that just like my trademark eyeliner I was in fact winging it this morning.

They say The Lord he works in mysterious ways and that He did this morning, in some bizarre twist of fate or quite possibly Divine intervention, the editor was late.

During the 35 minutes I waited sitting perfectly upright I pondered the following:

1. Do I eat my banana, or is the risk of making first impressions and introductions with a mouthful of banana (rude.) too great? The answer: banana eating is too risky, not because of awkward introductions but because you may find yourself catapulted a piece of it across the subdued office in an unexpected slip of the hand.

2. Has the editor forgotten about our rendez-vous, and am I destined to spend the rest of the day sitting perfectly upright because I'm too dam British to move? Neither. She arrived and she's lovely.

There magazine is put together by a very small and very hard-working team. Which is a good thing for me because it means I get the opportunity to have a hands on role and get myself knee deep in the West Countries going on.

I get stuck in and the day passes as it should – as if it is a normal day.

And the best bit? I'm getting published! The lovely Ed has said she will endeavour to get my name in the mag as much as possible as a thank you. My feature on things to do in Exeter will go to print before Christmas! Watch this space.
