Save the date! A survey by StatisticBrain.com has revealed that the 24th of January is the date you are most likely to fail your New Year’s Resolution. In fact, only 45% of us Brits will succeed at achieving a New Year’s resolution.

I’ve taken on a biggie this year. I’ve never really made a New Year’s resolutions before as I’m fully aware my willpower is equal to that of a small child (or me) who gets left alone in a room with a chocolate cake and told not to eat it -- my willpower does not exist *WAILING EMOJI*

So, I’m losing my NYR (oh hi, cheeky acronym!) virginity by doing a Dryatholon. Like #dryjanuary but better and, I think, with a much greater chance of success. Why? Because not only am I going sober for myself, I’m doing it to raise money for Cancer Research UK too.

There’s no way I can have a sneaky gin night cap or drink wine straight from the bottle with as much demure as the Queen (by using a straw, naturally) because I simply can’t jeopardise my sponsorship.

That said, I have already bartered with myself that, if I fall off the wagon of the 28th January I’ll have done 4 calendar weeks which is technically a month, right? Wrong, Jonesey! Ellen MaCarthur once said “courage is not having the energy to go on, it’s going on when you do not have the courage.” And, I, on my very own courageous, noble (I could go on) voyage of sobriety will persevere – past the 24th of January (or #SUCCUMBSUNDAY as I’m calling it); past the 28th (the mind achieves what the body believes, bruh) sailing right through to the 31st January 2016.
